Approximately 25 years ago, the furnace was refurbished, and the area of the forecourt converted to a public park, where many of the Lonaconing and George's Creek events take place.
Event: Artists Market, Street Fair, History Exhibition, and Folk Music Show -- The Iron Furnace 175th Anniversary Celebration When: Saturday, September 3rd -- 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Where: Throughout the town of Lonaconing, Maryland; open to the public at no admission charge.

A detailed description and a colored, detailed drawing of what is thought to be the entire operational furnace is mounted in the park on the lower terrace, somewhat to the right of the structure.
